Hyperthermia in palliative care

Pain relief is reported in studies of systemic hyperthermia in almost all patients undergoing hyperthermia and radiotherapy, and in the majority of patients undergoing chemotherapy and hyperthermia. Immediate relief is attributed to hormonal stimulation, while long-term relief is due to effects such as improved circulation and a direct effect on the nervous system.
There is also clear evidence of improved appetite and reduced fatigue, along with a return to normal life activity, which in total contributes to the improvement of quality of life, which is clearly visible in patients with advanced cancers.
